Task 1: Isolate a passage about which you have a question. Tell us where the passage is, whether by quoting it or by paraphrasing it (and, in either case, by citing it).  
Task 2: Motivate the question that you have about the passage. Tell us why you might go about asking the question at all, whether in the first person or in the third person.  
Task 3: Explicate the question that you have about the passage. Tell us how you might go about answering the question, whether in the past tense or in the future tense. Your question might be about one of several things (among others). First, your question might be about the meaning of something that the author says in the passage. Second, your question might be about the intention of something that the author does in the passage. Third, your question might be about the implication of something that the author says or does in the passage. (Please note that there is a model on the section site.)
