Ethical Challenges

 
I would like to take the time to first of all define deontological  decision as I was not familiar with this term when I first saw it. A  deontological decision is a decision made in a situation should always  follow the rules. For example, if my family was hungry and did not have  food to eat I could not steal food because doing so is wrong. Basically  the theory expects you to do right in all situations by following rules  of morality. 
With  that said if a law enforcement officer is expected to follow morality  rules, he or she will always do that which is right. I can say that law  enforcement officers are sometimes put in awkward situation where the  lines my get blurred based on the assignments that they are carrying  out. I imagine that an officer working undercover might have a more  difficult doing ethical things. On the other hand if an officer works  patrol he might find that it is easier to do the right thing. Although I  will say that a District Attorney also has a huge impact on this. One  great example of that is the District Attorney in one of the neighboring  counties that I live in. The District Attorney in that County refuses  to prosecute people and if I were an officer in that county I would  think twice before arresting someone, spending hours on paperwork and  booking a person in only so that the District Attorney of that County  decides to turn around and drop charges. I believe that would be a huge  challenge.
