You should do Exercise #1 (Week #1) first if you haven’t done it already. It’s the StrengthFinder, which will take you about 20 minutes and give you much more information about yourself that you could use for Exercise #5. It’s up to you, but it will be useful.
For the Functional Resume, access your latest resume to use as a guideline. Then transform it into a “functional one” for another way to present yourself. Trust me–it works!! This is a different way of presenting yourself that yields excellent results for students and others. Personally, I don’t like Objectives because they seem to limit you to the job mentioned therein. With a profile, you can put to work buzz words like those shown below to give a prospective employer almost a 30-second elevator pitch in just one paragraph. See the examples–two of the three functional resumes were created in my COM270 classes by Drexel students who have now graduated. They told me this format worked very well for them!! (Just sayin’.) Also, I’m noticing that large corporations like Amazon, Google, Yahoo and others are looking for job candidates in LInkedIn, so make sure yours is updated!!
