It will be important to work with the team to build trust and respect between team members and to provide a clear vision of the teams goals and responsibilities through a keen understanding of patient demographics which will enable the organization to reach performance objectives of increasing government reimbursement. Each member of the team must understand their role on the team and that the role of each team member is important to success. I would encourage members to communicate effectively which means to listen, and to speak freely to bring about a collaboration that integrates ideas into a plan while maintaining a smooth workflow. (Nancarrow, Booth, Ariss, Smith, Enderby, & Roots, 2013)
To coordinate team activities I would incorporate these team principles; 1) A Planning Briefing- a short session before start to discuss the team, and to establish roles within the team, 2) Problem-Solving Check-in Meetings-where team members can share information, or issues, and make adjustments where necessary, and 3) A Process Debriefing- to review the process afterwards and tea members can provide feedback. (Ferguson, 2008) These teamwork principles will help to provide direction to the team and to monitor collaboration between team members. The debriefing with feedback can provide important insights into what worked and what was not working within the team.

Team collaboration is a crucial aspect of making sure that teams are effective and efficient. As a healthcare administrator, it is important to make sure staff members are educated on government-sponsored reimbursement programs and how they can meet performance objectives. It is important that all patient information (demographic and insurance) is up-to-date at the time of service. This lowers the chances of error when the claim is submitted. I would ensure that my staff members were knowledgeable on government payer requirements and provide them with materials that they can reference when needed.
I would use several methods from the TeamSTEPPS program such as situation-monitoring and mutual support. With situation monitoring, I would be able to monitor the actions my team, ensuring mistakes or oversights are caught quickly and easily (Ferguson, 2008). I believe mutual support on all levels is extremely important when working on a team. As the administrator, I will plan to anticipate and support the team’s needs through accurate knowledge about responsibilities and workload (Ferguson, 2008). I will plan to hold meetings with the team on a regular basis to address any of their needs and make sure I am aware of any issues or roadblocks they might be facing in their daily workflow. This is also an opportunity to address the group as a whole to bring up any mistakes that are occurring regularly with the government reimbursements and how we can fix these mistakes from happening in the future. As outlined in the TeamSTEPPS model, this approach will be timely, respectful, specific, and directed toward improvement (Ferguson, 2008).
