· Bell’s palsy is a condition that temporary paralyzed one side of the face. Bell’s palsy is caused by the inflammation of the facial nerve that results in weakness or paralysis of the facial muscle. It is still unknown what causes this condition. From personal experience, I got Bell’s palsy from Lyme disease, which I sustained from a deer tick that bit me. Approximate 40,000 individual experience this condition in a year, including as young as 15 year old. It can affect anyone such as men or women, and not excluding any race. The way Bell’s palsy affect your body, it appears as if the individual has had a stroke, but only affecting one side of the face. Bell’s palsy implicates the seventh cranial nerve which involves the muscles that controls the blinking of the eye or facial expressions, the taste of the tongue, the saliva gland, and the tear gland. On the affected side, people facial muscle is not able to move that side of the mouth, whether it’s smiling or frowning or even opening properly the mouth. It can also cause a person to drool without noticing. That side of the eye is not able to blink, which is recommended the use of eye lubricant drops to protect the eye from irritation or dryness and at times, the person can experience uncontrollable tearing. It also affects the taste buds, for instance, I was eating a sweet mango and on my affected side, the mango tasted very sour. It is still unknown to scientist a standard treatment for this condition but studies have shown that some antiviral drug and steroids may help reduce the inflammation of the nerve. It is also recommended for facial exercise or massages, acupuncture, or heat moist may also help improve the nerve function. Depending on the severity of the muscle inflammation, recovery can take anywhere from 2 weeks to up to 3 to 6 months to return completely to normal. · epilepsy is a brain causing trauma, it causes seizures in which is triggered from the brain. This can come from a brain aneurysm. An aneurysm can come from a full blown trauma like a severe hit to the head, a full blown trauma, or mayne in some cases a mental disorder. Generally, epilepsy is successfully treated with antiepileptic medications. 60%-70% of people diagnosed with epilepsy will gain seizure control with medication. Others may continue to have seizures, but less frequently. When seizures continue to recur even with medication other treatment options such as surgery, stimulation of the vagus nerve, or, especially in children, the ketogenic diet may be considered. In the hope of seizure control complementary therapies are often explored. Any consideration given to complementary therapies should be thoroughly researched and discussed with your treating doctor. although epilepsy is a hard disease to control it is one of the most very common, and still under study.
