Egocentrism is something I feel that is placed in the early stages of your life, it all started with your parents. When you feel a certain way, for example about politics, were you influenced by a parent? Think about why that is the group you classify with. You may have grown up around it and your mind persuaded yourself that this is what you believe, but it may be because it is all you know. You never let your mind explore the other options. For myself, my mother always told me she HATED mushrooms, refused to even make them. So I always said I didn’t like them, but I never even ate one. I felt so strongly about something, that I didn’t even know what it tasted like. So when I thought about mushrooms being anywhere near my food, I felt disgusted. One day, a friend made me dinner and she put mushrooms in it. She knew that I have always said I didn’t like them but I never tried them. Turns out, I like mushrooms! You can only change how you feel about certain things by thinking. If you think you like/dislike something, eventually your mind with be tricked into feeling a certain way about the subject. 50 words

Thinking, feeling, and wanting are the three main functions of the mind. The thinking function is to make sense of the events that happen in our life, organizes the events into named categories, and finds patterns. The feeling function evaluates the meanings created by the thinking function. It evaluates if the event going on is a positive or a negative event. Last is the wanting function which is what makes us take action in what we want and is achievable. 50 words

I have always been the type to steer away from conflict. I didn’t like to argue because I felt like I was the least knowledgeable person in the argument. I was passed up for a promotion and the position was given to a less qualified person. This didn’t bother me until this person began to give directives that would go against my department’s policies and could create a major legal issue. I chose to speak up because it was the right thing to do. The repercussions of my actions would be incredible. Once management found out about what was about to occur I was automatically place in charge of a project that would systematically correct any misguided instructions in the updated manual. A few months later I received a promotion and then another less than a year later. I no longer have an issue with speaking my mind because I now not only have the confidence but I know how to think critically about what is being said to me and what I am about to say in return. 50 words

A married woman, with three small children, has been kept alive through a feeding tube, for five years. She had a stroke and the doctors put her on life support. Her husband and small children visit their mother regularly in the hospice. The medical bills continue to mount, as treatment is expensive.
Doctors have repeatedly stated that she has no chance of recovery. The woman’s parents insist that her sounds and movements are signs that she could recover. The husband wants to remove the feeding tube, as it is an extraordinary measure, which the woman clearly stated she would not wish to have, prior to the event which caused the condition. What are some potential, and valid, reasons that the husband could want to have the feeding tube removed? I am not asking you to come up with a solution. Instead, I am asking that you use critical thinking to come up with a rationale to remove the feeding tube. 50 words.

At birth baby can be quiet or energetic at that time. When we used the word temperament its referred to when kids behavior and emotional reactions from early life onward, this is caused by biological factors. After birth environmental factors and maturation interact with a child temperament to shape their personality. Also having to do  with personality is the brain, hormones and neurotransmitters. I have a little cousin at birth he was quiet baby after couple months went by he started crying little more wanting to be pick up. He was involved in baby shaking syndrome where he had small bleed on brain and fractured arm. Now as we come past that incident he has become very temperament. You can give him spanking and it does nothing to him at all.

When it comes to personality dynamics we are looking at how personality is expressed. It also focus on how we use motivation to go through life and any situation that we might see ourself in. Another part of personality dynamics is adaption and adjustment. We use out personality to adjust to things in our life, and it also helps us to adapt to the environment. Some would say that cognitive process plays an important part in modern personality theory. Culture also has a part in personality dynamics.

I believe your cultural background may determine your personality. According to the text, historically, personality theories focused on the individual, leaving culture and society in the background. This left an incomplete picture of personality and prevented theories from adequately explaining gender, ethnic, and cultural differences. Influenced by greater awareness of cultural change, researchers have increasingly considered the role of culture in personality. Individualistic cultures, like the United States, emphasize individual differences in personality traits more than do collectivist cultures (Heine & Buchtel, 2009). There is also a difference in the personalities that are encouraged in various cultures. The individualism of U.S. culture encourages extraverted and assertive behavior that would be frowned on in more interdependent collectivist societies (Triandis, 2001). Personality traits also change from one generation to the next; for example, based on test scores, U.S. students have been increasing not only in self-esteem and extraversion but also in anxiety and neuroticism (Twenge, 2000, 2001; Twenge & Campbell, 2001). Much remains to be done to understand adequately the role of social influences on personality, but we can be sure that some of the motivations that direct people are shaped by their culture.
