Mr. Pirzada, too, is just passing through. Like Mr. Sen, he is a professor teaching in the northeast United States. His hosts, Lilia’s parents, are his cultural center while his family is out of touch in Pakistan. Mr. Pirzada is more like Lilia’s father who really doesn’t want to adapt than he is like Mr. Sen whose wife resists changing times.
